A home health aid provides caregiving assistance in the home. Generally, a home health aid is expected to meet the needs of an individual who is not capable of living alone without help. The aid manages the home, thus, making it possible for the person needing care to remain at home instead of transferring to a nursing facility.

Common tasks of a home health aid include the following:

• Help the care receiver with his/her activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, and moving around
• Aid change bandages
• Medication reminders
• Light house cleaning
• Laundry
• Change beddings
• Prepare healthy meals
• Shop for food
• Run errands

Aside from the above mentioned, a home health aid also spends time with the care receiver. Companionship and conversations, including games can and help them to be both physically and mentally active are all duties of a home health aid, who’s job it is to create a warm, healthy environment in the home.
